Semester 1: Studio C Sketches - (Level 3 Theater class)
Studio C sketches have been sweeping the nation on Youtube and BYU TV with their clean family-oriented comedy, and now they come to you! Studio C is a fresh, live comedy sketch series that explores the funny side of everyday life. Returning acting students are invited to join this class to learn about sketch comedy, watch some Studio C episodes, and then pick their favorites to rehearse in class; these sketches will be performed at the end of the semester. Students may need to provide some simple costumes and props for their performance. Come and work on your comedic acting skills, while enjoying some fun and laughter! Now is the “time to laugh!” (Ecc 3:4) It’s good medicine! (Prov 17:22) (Prerequisite Theater 1 and Acting Techniques, or Tutor approval)
Semester 2: Drama Ministry (Level 3 Theater class)
Shine your light through Drama! Jesus says in Matthew 5 that we are the light of the world and He calls us to shine our light to others -- drama is a great way to do this! In this class, returning students will discover how drama has been used throughout history to spread the Gospel and teach Biblical truths; and explore how it can be effectively used today in youth groups, churches, Sunday schools, special events, mission trips, your community, and even in the streets or malls! Watch examples of this powerful art form in action, and research, read, and select your own pieces to rehearse and perform at the end of the semester. (Prerequisite Theater 1 and Acting Techniques, or Tutor approval).
